Fronius Solar Web - data logging issues

Recommended Posts

I had a system installed this week with a Fronius Primo 8.2  & smart meter and am having trouble with the data logging.

Day 1.   system online ~midday.    Installer hadn't set up my viewing permission so I didn't check data at all.

Day 2.    Logs fine from  start of Day 1 to ~7am day 2 but then stopped logging until ~4pm.     At 4pm both the website and app accurately updated the missing 7am to 4pm data and continued to log fine to end of day.

Day 3.   Logged fine from midnight to  ~7am then stopped  logging,  until ~1:30pm,  at which time the website updated but data was not accurate  (shows constant 3.91kW for the 6.5hrs duration but  when actual was  ~3 to 8kW).    It  just logged that one data point at 1:30pm then nothing since.          The solar web iphone app  history page is  still showing yesterdays history so is even worse than the website.

I've contact my installer and he's not sure what the problem is.

I'm suspecting my wifi as the inverter is on the edge of coverage,   but the fact the live data always seems fine makes me think not.

any suggestions??

anyone had similar issues in the past or lately?

cheers

@manchu I'd suspect WiFi connection reliability. I never count on wifi, and always run a cable if possible. My Fronius is hard wired, and I never have issues (unless I'm fiddling, which I'm prone to).

Another thing to make sure of is that Night Mode is set to 'ON' in your inverter. If you have a Fronius Smart Meter, you MUST have night mode enabled so your logging works correctly.

I've made a little video for you here on how to do it.

Cheers,

Jason.

I think you're right.    A home network upgrade is on the cards so I'll  run a cable.

Thanks for the tip and vid.   I checked and it was already ON.

The logging does seems better now than the first few days.   I haven't noticed any big delays (several hours) in history updating recently,  but that might be because I'm not looking at as often now the novelty has worn off a little.

    • Hi Thanks for allowing me to join the site. I have a real passion for saving the environment from fossil fuels. I hope to do all I can to save our beautiful planet through spreading the word of recycling and renewables.
    • Zappi itself works great ... it's the software side of things that definitely needs some work. I remain hopeful and continue to work through it.
    • How are you finding the Y? Everything you expected? Blows me away how many you see on the road now.
    • We've just bought our second home battery. The first one, a lead acid gel battery, has reached EOL. We've replaced it with 4x 3kWh GenZ LFP batteries. Each module has its own BMS, so if one module fails, the rest of the battery won't - vital when it's an hour and a half drive for our installer to fix the problem. It's connected to our 9kW of roof panels, DC coupled through a Selectronic SP PRO inverter. The system needs to be reliable as it powers our electric pump for our roof sprinklers, but as an added bonus, almost all our power bills are car charging power imports. We have a Tesla EVSE, but it's controlled by an app called ev.energy that only charges when Amber prices are low.
    • That's not good to hear; at least the Tesla EVSEs work!
